1. Booking an appointment

To make an appointment, contact the clinic by phone or email or use the form on the 'contact' page. Leave a telephone number and we will call you back to arrange an appointment.

2. The initial consultation

The initial consultation usually takes 1 hr or a little bit more, and consists of:
An in-depth look at your current symptoms and full medical history

A physical examination, if required, using familiar medical techniques

Diagnosis and treatment plan explained clearly in plain English

A Presription of individalised herbal medication is dispensed - usually enough for two weeks or so.

Discussion
At the initial consultation you have the opportunity to discuss your condition, symptoms and any questions you have, in depth. The herbalist will ask you a range of questions about your symptoms, medical history and family medical background, diet and lifestyle.

Examination
If required, standard medical examinations may be carried out, such as listening to your heart or lungs or looking in your ears, eyes, or at the part of your body affected. This may require some undressing - just as you would expect at the doctors.

Diagnosis
Any diagnosis, and the thinking behind it, will be explained to you in plain English so you understand the reasoning.

Herbal Medicine
Medicine will usually be dispensed for you there and then from the well stocked dispensary*. These could be in the form of tinctures (alcoholic extracts of herbs), teas, juices, capsules, syrups, creams or drops.

Clear instructions will be given about how and when to take the medicine, and in some cases recommendations on changes to lifestyle or diet may also be made.

*Sometimes, where a particular herb is not in stock it may be necessary for you to collect the prescription a few days later, or we can send it on to you by post.

Remember to bring along any test results you have and names of drugs you are currently taking.

3. Follow up consultations

Follow-up consultations usually occur two or three weeks after the initial consultations, and last half an hour.

At the follow-up consultation there will be...
questions about changes in symptoms and your progress in general
adjustment to your herbal prescription if it is indicated
dispensing a further two or more weeks of medicine, as appropriate.
Whilst some patients may need more than one follow-up visit, others may find that occasional phone consultations and repeat prescriptions are all that is necessary. Each case is, of course, unique.

4. Ongoing support

If you need any help, support or have any questions between consultations you can phone at any time and leave a message. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
